About the Work

Singapura Seasons is a mini photo-documentary series which celebrates the ordinary and the joy of mediocrity.

These are the stories of Singaporeans who soldier on day after day, giving their best in their trades and crafts. These are stories of integrity, of a certain endearing obstinance that refuses to bow to the convenience of automation and shortcuts. These are the stories of daily triumphs, not over others but over oneself - because what we do for a living is usually not spectacular. 

So in these seemingly small things, which often go unnoticed, we find a rhythm which can be likened to the seasons - constant, comforting, and certain.

On this equatorial island which knows no seasons, it is in stories like these, that we may yet find that familiar sense of a place called home.

This series of documentary work is made possible by Straits Organization, which runs a chain of co-living hotels named ST Signature - located in Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar and Little India. Special thanks to all the good people who allowed me into their lives and stories, to capture a glimpse of the extraordinary things we commonly miss.
